Our Story
Jesus loves Gophers
Our name.
In the Bible, the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:20,
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
Our ministry finds its identity in this passage. We believe that God longs to have each and every person be reconciled to Himself, and that the way that re-connection happens is through the representation of his people. Each of us who takes on the identity of “Christian” becomes Christ’s ambassador—or christou apostoloi in Greek, which we shorten to the first letters “Chi” and “Alpha,” or XA. Our name is our constant reminder that each of us has a real part to play in this world. We each can carry Him within us to bring Him closer to the people around us.
Our vision.
Our desire is to practice the way of Jesus and to see His kingdom come and will be done on campus as it is in heaven.
So we live together as a Spirit-filled community and embrace his call to make disciples that make disciples.
Disciples that truly know Him, become like Him and do what He did.
How do I join?
You’re welcome to join our community, at any time! Here are a few ways:
Chi Alpha Rally, our weekly gathering. This is our time to come together and connect with the larger group, building friends outside our small groups. We start each night with an opportunity to meet new people before spending time together in worship. Our pastors share a word from the Bible, and we take time to pray. We meet Thursdays, 7:00-8:15pm in Peterson Commons in Melrose Station.
Join a Small Group! A Small Group is a small group of guys or girls who meet weekly for fellowship and Bible study. They’re the best way to get plugged into Chi Alpha, and many people make lifelong friendships in their small group.
Check out one of our social events. We believe in having fun! Social events are a great place to hang out with your small group and get to know others in Chi Alpha.
